QUASSAICK CREEK GREENWAY
IMAGINE!
Rooted in decades of local efforts, advocacy, and community engagement, the Quassaick Creek Greenway Plan envisions an accessible trail system that connects neighbors with the beauty of the creek. The plan aims to promote equitable access to this hidden gem while expanding safe and sustainable mobility options, enhancing connectivity throughout the region. This continuous greenway will create places to connect with water, play in nature, learn about stream ecology, explore local history, and be part of a thriving, healthy community.
This vision builds upon the QCG Feasibility Study (2023), developed with input from community members and a dedicated steering committee. The continued evolution of this plan represents a shared commitment to restoring and celebrating this natural asset for generations to come.
QCG / Quassaick Creek Greenway is a community project exploring a potential public trail along Quassaick Creek. Extending from the Hudson River to Snake Hill Preserve, the Greenway will create opportunities for public enjoyment and education, protect the Creek's unique ecosystem, and improve neighborhood access to nature in the city. The project will be gathering ideas from the community, along with research on the cultural, physical and environmental conditions of the Creek.
Scenic Hudson has been in collaboration with a steering committee of local community members and representatives from City of Newburgh, Orange County Planning, Orange County Land Trust, Outdoor Promise, the Quassaick Creek Watershed Alliance, Riverkeeper, Town of New Windsor Parks and Recreation to help bring resources and planning to this long held community vision.
